RMLD Increasing Rates Effective July 1

Reading Municipal Light Department voted to increase rates by 3 percent, per reports.

At a recent meeting, the Reading Municipal Light Department voted to increase rates for residential and commercial customers, according to published reports.

The RMLD Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 to increase its rate by 3 percent effective July 1, according to a report from the Daily Times Chronicle.

A customer using 750kWh monthly would see an increase of $3.50, the report said. More usage will result in a higher increase.

In March 2015, RMLD General Manager Coleen O’Brien informed town managers of Reading, North Reading, Wilmington and Lynnfield of a potential 3-5 percent rate increase, the report said.
