Town Offers Free Masks to Community

Masks are available now via the O'Leary Senior Center and a pick-up event in August

The Town of North Reading, in collaboration with the North Reading Police & Fire Departments, Community Impact Team, Elder Services, and Youth Services, is providing free disposable masks to the community.

Town Administrator Michael Gilleberto noted, “In order to support the community during this pandemic, guidance provided by the CDC and Massachusetts Department of Public Health clearly indicates the need for social distancing and source control as preventative measures for stopping the spread of COVID-19, which is clearly working, as indicated by Massachusetts’ latest numbers. While there is nothing the Town can provide to ensure social distancing, the Town can provide the community with masks for source control.”

The Town has received an order of facial coverings, and is planning a drive-up distribution event to occur in August as a supplement to home-delivery distribution that occurred in June to senior residents. Residents who are in need of a facial covering sooner than August, and are age 60 or older or at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19, may contact the Elder Services Department by calling 978-664-5600.
