NORTH READING, MA — An early-rising fox was caught on video making his morning commute through a North Reading driveway on Wednesday. The little fella was sly, but not sly enough to avoid triggering the driveway floodlights.

The video, as seen on the Neighbors app, shows the fox trotting past the driveway and picking up the pace once he sees he's triggered the lights. The neighbor who submitted the video suspects the fox may be the newest member of a furry trio that hangs around the property.

Foxes breed mid-January to late February and begin to prepare dens during this time, so sightings aren't uncommon. Foxes have always been spotted in the Bay State — they are the most widespread carnivore species in the world ranging across the entire Northern Hemisphere.

Foxes are omnivorous and opportunistic feeders, meaning they'll snack on just about anything they can get their paws on. This makes living near humans in the suburbs easy since all they need is a source of food, water and shelter. While they look and are related to dogs, it's important to remember not to feed or pet them, it can cause foxes to act tame and over time, may lead to bold behavior.
