Brockton Man Drowns At Quincy Beach
The 19-year-old Brockton man was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon after being pulled from the water at Mound Street Beach in Quincy.
QUINCY, MA — A 19-year-old Brockton man died after being pulled from the water at Mound Street Beach in Quincy Sunday.
Police responded to a call around 2:15 p.m., according to The Boston Globe, which first reported this story. Two recreational divers helped in the search after a swimmer was reported going into the water and not re-emerging. Elissandro Silva, 19, of Brockton, was taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, where he was pronounced dead at 4:38 p.m.
Silva is one of at least six people who have drowned in Massachusetts since Friday. That included Worcester police Officer Enmanuel Familia, who drowned in a pond while trying to save a 14-year-old boy, Troy Love, who also died.
