Boston Cannons MLL Championship Celebration Set For Quincy

The public is invited to the Cannons' title trophy celebration Thursday at Veterans Stadium.

QUINCY, MA — The Boston Cannons will be showing off the Major League Lacrosse 2020 championship trophy at a public event at Veterans Stadium on Thursday.

The Cannons won the second title in franchise history in July when they beat the Denver Outlaws in the title game of the tournament-style season of games held at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. The 2020 season was condensed in the bubble location due to the coronavirus health crisis.

Boston went 3-2 in the regular season with a victory over the Outlaws in the final regular season game. One of the semifinals was canceled after members of the Chesapeake team tested positive for the coronavirus — pitting Boston and Denver in the final in a rematch of the 2019 semifinal that Denver won.

"We're excited to kick off our 2020 championship celebration with our fans at home in Quincy,” said Mark Drago, the Cannons' Vice President of Operations. "Being able to include our fans at home in our celebrations means a lot to our team, especially given that they were not able to witness our 2020 season in person."

Thursday's event on their Quincy home field will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All those attending will be required to wear a face mask. Those not wearing masks will be denied entry to the stadium.

Fans are asked to enter the stadium through Gate C on the Southern Artery and must provide their names and phone numbers for contact tracing, if necessary. Those who are not members of the same household will be spaced at least 6 feet from each other.

Photos with the Steinfeld Trophy will be taken on the field in front of the scoreboard. After taking a photo, fans will be given directions to exit the field.

Fans are asked not to congregate with each other during the event.
