Broad Meadows Middle School Has No School Monday

Due to a heating issue, the kids will remain home on Monday.

From Superintendent Richard DeCristofaro:

During yesterday's snowstorm and historic high tide, there was significant flooding damage to the basement level mechanical room at the Broad Meadows Middle School. The City of Quincy's Public Building Department has been working with National Grid and outside contractors to restore electricity and heating capacity to the building since Thursday afternoon. Every effort has been made to secure the replacement parts needed to restore the services to the building and work will continue today and throughout the weekend.

At this time, it cannot be guaranteed that the necessary repairs to fully restore heating and electricity will be completed over the weekend. With apologies for the inconveniences, but keeping student and staff safety as our priority, I have made the decision that there will be no school at Broad Meadows Middle School on Monday, Jan. 8. My thanks go out to the public buildings staff members who are working diligently to remedy this most difficult situation.
