Brockton Teen Dies After Being Pulled From Water At Quincy Beach

Police say 19-year-old Elissandro Silva entered the water Sunday afternoon and did not resurface.

QUINCY, MA — A 19-year-old man from Brockton is dead after being pulled from the water at Mound Street Beach in Quincy Sunday afternoon, said the Quincy Police Department in a Twitter post.

Police responded to a report of a person who had entered the water and not resurfaced around 2:15 p.m. Divers later found the victim, identified as Elissandro Silva, and pulled him out of the water. He was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

"We are saddened to report that the 19-year-old pulled from the water off Mound St. Beach has passed away," said Quincy police. "Our thoughts are with the victim and his loved ones."

Police say there are not many swimmers at Mound Street Beach and no lifeguard is on duty.
