Dove, Inc. In Quincy Receives $1k Grant From Harvard Pilgrim

The funds will be used to purchase food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies for families and victims of domestic violence.

QUINCY, MA — Dove, Inc. in Quincy has received a $1,000 grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation's Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant Program.

Alice Gakuo and Kristene George, employees of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, nominated Dove, Inc. for the grant, which will be used to purchase food, toiletries and cleaning supplies for families and victims of domestic violence.

“We are so fortunate to have generous and engaged employees who enrich our organization and the communities in which we all live and work,” said Karen Voci, President of the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, in a statement. “The Mini-Grant program is a wonderful way to support our employees as local philanthropists and to help them make an impact in their own communities.”

The Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation's Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant Program was founded in 2002 to commemorate those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. It allows each Harvard Pilgrim employee to award a $500 grant, funded by the foundation, to a local charity each year. Since the program's launch, it has awarded over $7 million in grants to thousands of organizations in New England.

The Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, created in 1980, seeks to improve health care and build healthy communities throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. It has awarded approximately $165 million in funds and resources since its inception.
