Fore River Shipyard Included In State's Amazon HQ2 Bid

The Fore River Shipyard, located on the Quincy side of the Fore River Bridge, was one of 26 locations included in the state's bid.

QUINCY, MA — Union Point isn't the only South Shore site that's being considered for Amazon's second headquarter.

The Fore River Shipyard, located on the Quincy side of the Fore River Bridge, was one of 26 locations included in the state's bid for Amazon's second headquarters. The state's bid calls the area, "a great opportunity for a company looking to establish a campus style location. The property has tremendous waterfront access, deep water shipping channel, and a commercial rail passing through the site in addition to proximity to highways, rail, and water transportation. Located close to a semi-residential setting and within minutes of (Quincy's) downtown center."

Just in Massachusetts alone the competition to be Amazon's second home is fierce. Other proposals include the parking lot across from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Suffolk Downs in Boston, Union Point, and the Fall River-New Bedford region.
