QUINCY, MA – The MBTA announced it will hold a public meeting about its plan to build a paring garage at The North Quincy MBTA train station.

South Shore residents and commuters who use the Red Line are welcome to provide input and hear MBTA representatives review the plan. The public meeting is scheduled for Feb. 6, at 6:30 p.m., at the North Quincy High School auditorium, located at 316 Hancock Street.

Construction at the North Quincy Garage is part of a long term lease signed by the MBTA for the property, which will be developed for mixed retail and residential use by Hancock Street Partners. According to an MBTA press release, the 852 existing parking spaces in the current parking lot will be replaced with 852 dedicated garage spaces for MBTA commuters, along with 700 spaces for retail and residential use.

Construction is expected to begin the week of Feb. 17. No parking will be displaced until the week of then. During the construction period, commuters can utilize more than 600 MBTA parking spaces that will be available at North Quincy Station with additional MBTA parking spaces available at Wollaston Station until Wollaston reopens. Free shuttles continue to operate between North Quincy, Quincy Center, and Wollaston Stations until Wollaston Station reopens. During the construction period at North Quincy, North Quincy’s Red Line platform will remain open at both entrances during service hours with regular access to bus routes unaffected.
