QUINCY, MA — A Quincy middle school student is recovering in the hospital Thursday afternoon after being struck while crossing Hancock Street near Central Middle School Thursday morning. Central Middle School Principal Rick DeCristofaro sent a letter to the school community saying “the Central Middle School community will keep this student and family in our thoughts and hope for a speedy recovery.”

He said all students at the school were informed of the incident.

"We understand that this is a traumatic event and students may need a safe place to express their thoughts at a later date, and the staff will be available to respond," DeCristofaro wrote. "As always, your student's safety and well-being if of great importance to all of us at Central Middle School."
