New Quincy Parking Garage Stays Free A Bit Longer
Parking at the new Cottage Street Garage in Quincy is still complimentary, but will begin charging in the upcoming weeks.

QUINCY, MA — Complimentary parking will remain available at the new Cottage Avenue parking garage in Quincy a bit longer as sidewalks improvements are make and residents become familiar with the garage. City officials said on Thursday, however, that charging will begin sometime in the coming weeks.
Sidewalk improvements are taking place this week along Cottage Avenue west of Chestnut Street.
Following the free trial period, parking in the new city-owned garage will be $1 per hour for up to six hours. Prices will jump to $12 for six to eight hours, and $25 for more than eight hours without a permit. All-day parking and overnight parking is by permit only.

The $46.6-million, four-story garage, which includes 712 spaces and charging stations for electric cars, is designed to try to bring more short-term visitors into the heart of the city. The
escalation of rates is meant to deter commuters parking in the garage and walking to the nearby MBTA station.
