New Quincy Parking Garage Now Open
The new four-story parking garage on Cottage Avenue in Quincy was set to open Monday at 4 p.m.

QUINCY, MA — Quincy residents and visitors have a new parking option in the city. The garage on Cottage Avenue — formerly the Hancock parking lot — was set to open on Monday at 4 p.m. Parking is free until Jan. 6.
Following the free trial period, parking in the new city-owned garage will be $1 per hour for up to six hours. Prices will jump to $12 for six to eight hours, and $25 for more than eight hours without a permit. All-day parking and overnight parking is by permit only beginning Monday.
The $46.6-million, four-story garage, which includes 712 spaces and charging stations for electric cars, is designed to try to bring more short-term visitors into the heart of the city. The escalation of rates is meant to deter commuters parking in the garage and walking to the nearby MBTA station for work each day.
