Overnight Construction Closing Lanes On I-93 In Quincy

MassDOT said the closures are needed to allow crews to install bridge beams on the Robertson Street Bridge in Quincy.

QUINCY, MA — There will be temporary overnight lane closures and short-term rolling roadblocks on Interstate 93 in Quincy in both direction from 9 p.m., Friday to 5 a.m., Saturday, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced. Robertson Street will also be closed to all vehicular traffic and detours will be put in place.

MassDOT said the closures are needed to allow crews to install bridge beams on the Robertson Street Bridge. The existing bridge was constructed in 1958 and is currently safe for travel but is in poor condition, according to MassDOT. The full scope of work for this project includes removing and replacing the existing bridge structure, installing a bicycle lane, improving sidewalks and wheelchair ramps, and resurfacing the roadway.

Signs, traffic control devices and police officers will be used to guide drivers through the work zone. All work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
