Pedestrian Strike Shuts Down Quincy Avenue Monday Night

Quincy said the 62-year-old man struck on Quincy Avenue was recovering at South Shore Hospital late Monday night.

QUINCY, MA — A 62-year-old Quincy man was recovering from a serious head injury at South Shore Hospital Monday night after being struck by a car in Quincy earlier in the evening. Quincy Avenue was shut down for more than two hours while the man was transported to the hospital and police investigated.

Quincy police responded to the rush-hour pedestrian strike in the area of 170 Quincy Ave near Olindy's. The road was closed for accident reconstruction.

Quincy police said the man sustained a serious head injury, but was conscious and speaking at the hospital Monday night. The road reopened about 8:30 p.m.
