Plastic Bag Ban In Effect In Quincy
The ban of almost all single-use plastic bags in Quincy took effect on Sunday.
QUINCY, MA — The "Bring Your Own Bag" ordinance that banned virtually all single-use plastic bags in the city is now in effect. The ordinance, which the City Council unanimously passed in December, bans all bags with some limited exceptions.
Under the new ordinance, retail stores are not allowed to offer single-use bags at checkout — only for the protection of certain items such a meats — with the exception of a grace period to use up inventory. City officials have asked that residents get reusable bags and keep them in a car, house, work, purse or backpack to have them handy when shopping.
