Quincy Lowe's One Of 20 Stores Closing

QUINCY, MA — The Lowe's home improvement store at Thomas Burgin Parkway will close, along with 19 other stores nationwide as part of the company's "strategic reassessment."

The Quincy location is expected to close by the end of the company's 2018 fiscal year, which ends February 2019.

A statement from Lowe's said it will focus on it's most profitable stores as it looks to improve the overall health of the company. Most of the closing stores are located within 10 miles of another Lowe’s store and most employees will be given an opportunity to relocate, the company said. The next closest store to Quincy is in Weymouth at 729 Bridge Street. Another 31 stores in Canada will also close.

“While decisions that impact our associates are never easy, the store closures are a necessary step in our strategic reassessment as we focus on building a stronger business,” said Marvin Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO. “We believe our people are the foundation of our business and essential to our future growth, and we are making every effort to transition impacted associates to nearby Lowe’s stores.”
