Quincy Nonprofits Receive $5,400 In Harvard Pilgrim Grants

QUINCY, MA—Seven Quincy nonprofits have been awarded a total of $5,400 from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation's Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant Program.

The local organizations who have been given funds are Dove, receiving $250, Germantown Neighborhood Centerfood Pantry, receiving $1,100, Homebase, receiving $500, Interfaith Social Services, Inc., receiving $550, Lincoln Hancock Community School, receiving $500, Quincy Animal Shelter, receiving $2,000, and Women's Auxiliary American Legion Post 294, receiving $500.

"Now more than ever, as nonprofits across the region are dealing with the impact of COVID-19, we are committed to supporting their efforts to care for their communities," said Karen Voci, President of the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation, in a statement. "We are so fortunate to have generous and engaged employees who help strengthen Harvard Pilgrim and the communities where we all live and work."

The Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation's Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant Program was founded in 2002 to commemorate those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. It allows each Harvard Pilgrim employee to award a $500 grant, funded by the foundation, to a local charity each year. Since the program's launch, it has awarded over $6.8 million in grants to thousands of organizations in New England.

The Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, created in 1980, seeks to improve health care and build healthy communities throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. It has awarded approximately $155 million in funds and resources since its inception.
