Quincy Snowstorm: Flooding Forces Evacuations
Anyone who needs a ride to the city shelter can call the Quincy Operation Center at 617-376-1105.

QUINCY, MA — Residents impacted by flooding are being evacuated to the city shelter, Mayor Thomas Koch announced.
Koch said major flooding has hit Wollaston, portions of Squantum and a number of areas near the coastline. Those residents are being evacuated and others who are dealing with flooding or a loss of power are encouraged to make their way to the emergency shelter at Quincy High School.
Only those with a four-wheel drive vehicle should drive to the shelter, Koch said. Anyone who needs a ride can call the Quincy Operation Center at 617-376-1105.

A list for pumping flooded streets has been created and the process will begin once the tide recedes. If you are in need of pumping, you can call the water/sewer and drainage operations at 617-376-1910.
Quincy has been hit hard by the storm, as evident by a look outside the window of any city home. The 12:40 p.m. high tide has meant flooding on numerous coastal and inland roads. Video posted by Quincy Police shows a flooded and impassible Newport Avenue Extension near West Squantum Street. By 3:30 p.m., the city reported that water began receding slowly in flooded areas.

Koch expects the cleanup to be difficult due to the freeze that is anticipated to occur through Sunday.
Police across town have spent the day responding to reports of stuck cars and spinouts. Residents are asked to stay at home and not drive.
