South Shore YMCA To Host Blood Drive For The Mighty Quinn

The blood drive will take place Thursday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Quincy YMCA parking lot.

QUINCY, MA — The South Shore YMCA, in partnership with Children's Hospital Boston and the Quincy Police Department, will host a blood drive for The Mighty Quinn on Thursday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Quincy YMCA parking lot on Coddington Street.

The blood drive is being held for by Quinn Waters, a 5-year-old Weymouth boy who has been battling a form of brain cancer known as Medulloblastoma for most of his life. He has gone through many rounds of chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, and months of hospitalization.

Earlier this year, Quinn's cancer returned, and he is currently in need of blood and platelets for transfusions that take place nearly every other day. The goal of the blood drive is to help make up for the shortage due to COVID-19.
