Hey Guys, It's OK to See La La Land
Ignore that chick flick label, and remember, no one will see you in a dark theatre.

READING, MA - I saw La La Land last night with my wife. No, she didn't drag me into the Woburn theatre. I went willingly and I'm glad I did. La La Land was great.
Now I know what you're thinking. What kind of man is this guy? Will he be watching Project Runway On Demand Sunday night instead of the Super Bowl? Let me assure you, I'll be watching Tom Brady.
I'm the classic "guy" when it comes to movies. If it doesn't have super heroes, Denzel Washington, or Scarlet Johansson in a skin-tight leather outfit then I'm not interested. Throw in the occasional monsters (Godzilla, King Kong, and Orcs) and you see my taste. And yes, I hear you. My interests are shallow.

La La Land doesn't have any of that. It's the story of two aspiring performers looking for a break in Los Angeles. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling sing a lot, dance a lot, and spend two-hours chasing their dream. Ya, that sounds sappy, but guys, it works. I hate to admit it, but not every movie needs explosions to be good.
I always wondered why action heroes are never nominated for Academy Awards. But in the last two weeks I've seen Hidden Figures with Octavia Spencer and Taraji P. Henson, and now Stone in La La Land. It makes sense now. Nothing against women with super powers, but the acting doesn't come close to what these three women did.

So guys, it's ok to see La La Land. I won't tell anyone that was you in row B. And besides, Kong: Skull Island isn't out for another month.
