Letter To The Editor: Geoffrey Coram For School Committee
Colburn Road resident and former Birch Meadow PTO president Liz Rogers shares why she is supporting Geoffrey Coram for School Committee.
READING, MA — The following letter to the editor was submitted by Colburn Road resident Liz Rogers.
Dear Reading Community,
We are so fortunate that Geoffrey Coram has thrown his hat in the ring for election to Reading’s School Committee. His years of commitment as a volunteer in the Reading school system as his own daughters have grown and thrived in public school make him an ideal candidate.

Many parents ease their way into volunteering at school. They may sign up for a bake sale, chaperone a field trip or offer to help in the classroom. Geoffrey jumped in with both feet, doing all of this AND running for the role of PTO Treasurer. From his oldest daughter’s first day at Birch Meadow, Geoffrey was all in, supporting fellow parents, teachers and administration and enjoying being part of his children’s journey through the Reading public schools.
I worked with Geoffrey in the early years on the Birch Meadow PTO Board in my own roles as Secretary and then President. Geoffrey always impressed me with his attention to detail, knowledge of the facts and commitment to fair, by-the-books operation of PTO. He truly was the backbone of the board, the one we would turn to, saying, “Can we do that?” If Geoffrey gave the green light from a financial and guideline standpoint, we would feel confident moving ahead, knowing he had done the research needed to make a thoughtful and thorough decision.

Personally, I am lucky to have known the Coram family since my own move to Reading in 2003. My boys have grown up as friends and classmates of Geoffrey’s and Susan’s daughters, and Susan is a dear friend. It has been a pleasure to watch how devoted both Geoffrey and Susan have been over the years, supporting the academic and creative endeavors of their own girls and all Reading students.
I am proud to cast a vote for Geoffrey as he continues his legacy of dedication to our town and its schools. Please join me in electing Geoffrey Coram for School Committee in April.
Sincerely,
Liz Rogers, 88 Colburn Road
