Man Killed In Newton Construction Accident Was Reading Native

Russell Harron, remembered for his "sense of humor, his acts of kindness, generosity towards others," died in a construction accident May 6.

READING, MA — A construction worker killed in an accident at a home in Newton earlier this month was a native of Reading. Russell Harron, who was living in Billerica at the time of his death, grew up in Reading and was a member of the Reading Memorial High School Class of 1983, according to his obituary.

Harron had been working on the foundation of the home when a 10-foot trench wall collapsed, pinning him to the ground, the Middlesex District Attorney's office said. The accident happened May 6.

Harron's obituary remembers him for his "sense of humor, his acts of kindness, generosity towards others, and the love and devotion he had for his family." An avid outdoorsman, "you would find Russ fishing at a local waterhole, helping out a friend or family member, or sitting by his fire pit planning his next road trip north," his obituary states.
