Reading Friends and Family Day Saturday

Birch Meadow event has something for everyone in your house ... including fireworks.

Birch Meadow is the place to be this Saturday as the Reading Lions Club sponsors their annual Friends and Family Day.

Beginning at 10 a.m., the day is a celebration of all things Reading. The Lions have sponsored the event since 2004 and it includes food, crafts, games, giveaways, entertainment, and information about local organizations and businesses. Free activities include a petting zoo, a photo booth, remote race cars, and a miniature golf course.

The Friends of Reading Recreation Kids Fun Run starts the day at 10 a.m. From 10:30 to 3 p.m. there's plenty of activities and entertainment including the Academy of Traditional Karate (10:45 a.m.); Alpha Omega Music Studios (11:30); Creative Arts (12:15 p.m.); Elite Freestyle Karate (12:30); Ben Lynch (1:15) and Melted Chapsticks (2).

From 6:30 to 8 p.m. there's a YMCA sponsored movie. And the day concludes with the Friends of Reading Recreation Fireworks at 9 p.m.
