Reading Halloween 2020: What You Need To Know
Town officials urge residents to follow strict health and safety measures when trick-or-treating this year.
READING, MA — Reading officials are cautioning against activities like traditional trick-or-treating this year due to the pandemic. Residents are encouraged to follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, which has labeled trick-or-treating – knocking on doors, reaching into a communal bowl of candy – a high-risk activity.
Those celebrating Halloween in Reading are encouraged to keep the following health and safety tips in mind:
- Don’t distribute treats if you or anyone in your household are experiencing any symptoms or waiting for COVID-19 test results.
- Do not walk through neighborhoods with your children if you or anyone in your household are experiencing any symptoms or waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test.
- Carve pumpkins, visit a corn maze, do a scavenger hunt, organize an outdoor neighborhood costume contest.
- Be sure to keep wearing masks.
