A release from the Reading Republican Town Committee:

The Chair of the Reading Select Board Spoke to Members of the Reading Republican Town Committee as part of her community listening sessions.

On Wednesday, June 19 members of the Reading Republican Town Committee (RRTC) had a chance to meet with the current Chair of the Reading Select Board Vanessa Alvarado. Alvarado had reached out to Erin Calvo-Bacci who was recently elected as Chair of the RRTC who then put it to a vote with the Executive committee members Eric Bergstrom, Dan Ensminger and Brandon Chapman who overwhelmingly approved the decision. The informal meeting gave members a chance to hear which committees she serves as a liaison speak about their concerns regarding the direction of the town and to and ask questions about allowing non residents the ability to serve on committees. Alvarado had told the committee this particular issue made it to the agenda so that it could be discussed publicly with fellow members to avoid violating open meeting laws. She admitted after the amount of feedback the Select Board received from residents who were adamantly opposed the suggestion was dropped.
