Reading's Dorothy Rideout Passes Away

Longtime town resident was a graduate of Malden High School and Northern Essex Nursing School.

Dorothy Mae “Dot” Rideout, 77, formerly of Reading, passed away April 11, surrounded by her family in Winter Haven, Florida.

She was born September 20th, 1941 in Malden to John and Lillian Rollston. She was a graduate of Malden High School and Northern Essex Nursing School. She married John G. “Jack” Rideout in 1960 and raised 3 children while pursuing a career in nursing (O.R.) at New England Memorial Hospital and Lahey Clinic.

She was an active member of the Malden Church of the Nazarene for most of her life, ministering in several ways including in the choir and as a Sunday School teacher.

Dot, along with her husband “Jack”, was an avid hiker of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. They also travelled extensively, including trips to Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, the British Isles, and Alaska.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Jack, her children, Len & Heather, Steve & Ann Marie and Sandy & Rick, her sister Lillian “Tootie”, her brother John “Joe”, her sister-in-law Helen, her Grandchildren, Nick, Erica, Michael, Jonathan, Joshua and Caleb, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at 11 am at the Malden Church of the Nazarene, followed by burial at Wood’s End Cemetery in Reading.
