UUCR Music Sunday
The UUCR will perform Go Tell It On The Mountain! Christmas Carols of Appalachia on Dec. 16 at 9:15 and 11 am.

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading will present their annual Music Service on Sunday, December 16th, 2018 at both 9:15 am and 11:00 am: “Go Tell It On The Mountain! Christmas Carols of Appalachia”. It will be a wonderful worship service of both sacred and secular carols and songs from the Appalachian region followed by a fellowship hour.
Gorgeous, moving and joyous, many of the traditional favorites performed will be quite familiar: “Wondrous Love” and “The Cherry Tree Carol” in contemporary settings by composer Gwyneth Walker; “I Wonder as I Wander” and “Jesus, Jesus Rest Your Head” from the song collector John Jacob Niles; the hauntingly beautiful “In the Valley” and “Wexford Carol" and the rousing Gospel style “Amen Go Tell It”.
There will be plenty of foot stomping songs for everyone to sing including "Rise Up Shepherd and Follow”, “Children, Go Where I Send Thee”, “Kentucky Wassail” and of course, “Go Tell It On The Mountain” all sung by our talented choir, directed by Mary Cunningham, and accompanied by our amazing UUCR member musicians Roald Wilson, Aaron Clark, Stephen Gerstung, and David Gould, alongside pianist Trevor Berens.
