UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Middlesex County

Shorter time frame, less accumulation than initially forecast.

The National Weather Service In Taunton has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow, sleet, and freezing rain, which is in effect from 10 p.m. on Monday To  1p.m. on Tuesday in Middlesex County.

The winter hazards include snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

Accumulations of snow are expected to be around half an inch to two inches, less than the two to four inches initially forecast.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin around midnight, mixing over and changing to sleet in the early morning period on Tuesday before changing over to freezing rain by mid-morning and then rain by afternoon.

There will be dangerous travel conditions especially For the Tuesday morning commute along elevated roadways. Roads will become slick and slippery with only a trace of snow and/or ice. Visibilities will be reduced especially with snow.

Winds will be east 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph and temperatures will be around 30 degrees. Visibilities will be one-quarter mile or less at times.

A winter weather advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is forecast to develop in the affected areas, but accumulations are expected to be light.
