21-Unit Apartment Proposed By Commuter Rail Station Now Under Review

The city is taking a look.

ROSLINDALE, MA — A four-story apartment building is under review, proposed at the intersection of Belgrade Avenue and Beech Street by the Bellevue MBTA Commuter Rail station and within walking distance of West Roxbury’s shopping district.

It would include 21 apartments, ground-floor retail and 24 below-ground parking spaces. Three of the 21 apartments would be designated as affordable.

Developers describe it as a "gateway" project, in city filings.

If approved, it would entail knocking down the dilapidated commercial building currently at 317 Belgrade Avenue.

In their pitch to the city, developers write: "The proposed project will result in revitalizing what is currently considered a blighted sight in the neighborhood. Over the years there has been considerable frustration over the condition and the future of the site. This project will finally bring an end to that frustration."

Developers also met with residents last fall to discuss the proposal before filing with the city's development arm. You can read more about that meeting from Universal Hub here.
