Bettencourt Leads Bombers To Salem City Softball Title

Coming off an injury, Gianna Bettencourt pitched six innings in the 12-10 win over the Sea Dogs Monday.

SALEM, MA -- A three-run triple by Skylar Sverker and a six-inning, complete-game pitching performance by Gianna Bettencourt led the Bombers to a 12-10 win and a city major league softball title Monday. The Bombers had to win both Sunday and Monday to win the double-elimination tournament.

Heather Bedard's and Sverker's triples in the third inning broke open what had been a pitching and fielding duel. The bombers are coached by Hutch Hutchinson, who was doused in Gatorade following his team's win.
