Essex County Coronavirus Update: 11,432 cases, 669 Deaths

​There are 11,432 cases of the new coronavirus and 669 coronavirus-related deaths in Essex County as of Monday afternoon.

ESSEX COUNTY, MA – There are 11,432 cases of the new coronavirus in Essex County as of Monday afternoon, according to data released by the Mass. Department of Public Health. To date, there have been 669 coronavirus-related deaths in the county.

These numbers mean there are at least 84 deaths per every 100,000 people in Essex County, which has the third-highest death rate in the state. Suffolk County has reported 731 coronavirus-related deaths and Middlesex County has reported 1,235 to date.

The count is part of the daily data release by the department of health, which on Monday announced 669 new cases in the state, bringing the total statewide count of cases to 78,462. There were 129 new deaths reported in Massachusetts on Monday, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 5,108.

According to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine, there have been more than 1,340,000 confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States, with more than 79,000 deaths. More than 216,000 have recovered in the U.S. Worldwide, there are more than 4.1 million cases and 284,000 deaths.
