How To Dispose Of Your Christmas Tree In Salem

The Christmas tree Dead Horse Beach bonfire has been canceled because of coronavirus-related gathering restrictions.

SALEM, MA — Salem residents will have two weeks to dispose of live Christmas trees via curbside pickup starting this week.

Trees will be collected the weeks of Dec. 28 and Jan. 4 during the residents' normal day of trash and recycling pickup. Trees should be outside by 7 a.m. that morning.

Residents can also dispose of trees through the end of January at Castle Hill Park on 4 Story Road. Residents must go inside the parking lot to drop off their trees.

Residents are asked not to drop off any trees at Dead Horse Beach at Salem Willows since there will be no bonfire this year because of the coronavirus health crisis.

In either case, residents are reminded to remove all ornaments and lights on the tree before leaving it for pickup.
