It's The Last Straw At Turner's In Salem

The restaurant will no longer offer plastic straws and patrons will have to ask their server for a paper straw for their water.

SALEM, MA — Turner's in Salem has a new policy aimed at curbing pollution. The restaurant said Monday it will no longer be using plastic straws for water and other nonalcoholic beverages served at the restaurant. Patrons who want a straw for their water can ask their server and will be given a paper straw that is biodegradable.

"Please join us in this great effort to help protect our environment," the restaurant said in a notice to customers. "All of us at Turner's would like to thank you for supporting this decision."

Restaurants across the country began reconsidering their use of plastic straws last year after videos showing the damage and pollution the cause went viral. Hundreds of municipalities and several states are considering outlawing plastic straws.
