Derry Man Killed In Early Morning Motorcycle Accident
Patrick McDowell, 52, of Derry was killed Wednesday when he struck a guardrail on Hampstead Road.

DERRY, NH — A Derry man has died after a motorcycle crash on Hampstead Road Wednesday.
At 12:22 a.m., Derry police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
Officers located a 2013 Yamaha FJR motorcycle on its side on the shoulder of the roadway. The male operator was laying on the ground near the motorcycle with numerous apparent injuries.

The operator of the motorcycle, Patrick McDowell, 52, of Derry, was pronounced deceased on scene.
The initial investigation determined the crash involved a single motorcycle — which was traveling eastbound on Hampstead Road. The motorcycle left the travel portion of the roadway, causing it and the operator to strike the guardrail.

A section of Hampstead Road was closed for more than five hours while the Derry Police Crash Reconstruction Team investigated the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
