Memorial Day Weekend Storm Cancels Salem Ferry Service

Service will not take place on Saturday or Saturday with a determination about Monday to be made over the weekend.

SALEM, MA — Salem Ferry service will be suspended Saturday and Sunday because of expected weekend storms.

The city said a decision will be made on the Nathaniel Bowditch on Monday.

Rain is supposed to begin Friday night with wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour. On Saturday, chilly rain is forecast for the morning with sustained winds of 20 miles per hour and gusts to 31 miles per hour.

On Sunday, rain is also expected throughout the day with a high of 52 degrees. Winds are expected to be sustained at 15 miles per hour with gusts to 28 miles per hour.

Chance of rain on Saturday is 100 percent. Chance of rain on Sunday is 84 percent.
