Nearly Two-Thirds Of North Shore Residents Get First Vaccine Dose

PEABODY, MA — Nearly two-thirds of all residents in the 10 communities that make up the North Shore Coalition for a Safe Summer have received at least a first coronavirus vaccination shot.

In the weekly report, the coalition reported that 64 percent of residents had received at least their first shot, and 52 percent of residents are now fully vaccinated.

The 10 communities in the coalition are: Beverly, Danvers, Gloucester, Hamilton, Marblehead, Nahant, Newburyport, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott. The North Shore coalition is a collaborative effort to promote vaccinations as a way to ensure North Shore businesses can all open as fully and safely as possible this summer after the 2020 restrictions.

The Peabody Health Department said 48 percent of residents in that city (26,946 residents) are fully vaccinated, with 59 percent of residents (32,960 residents) having received at least their first vaccination dose.

The Salem State University regional collaboration site remains open on Tuesdays and Thursdays for vaccinations. Walk-in vaccinations are available or North Shore residents can make an appointment here.
