'Point Neighborhood Clean-Up Day' May 31 in Salem

Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll announced Wednesday that the City of Salem, in partnership with the North Shore Community Development Coalition, Point Neighborhood Association, Plummer Home for Boys, Salem YMCA, and Salem Cyberspace, will be hosting a Point Neighborhood Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 31. 

The event will start at 9:00 a.m. across from Mary Jane Lee Park on Palmer Street.

Residents are invited to join the City and other participating community organizations to learn more about recycling, health and wellness, indoor gardening, and more. Those attending will receive free blood pressure screening, can drop off e-waste for recycling, can register to vote, and can enter for a chance to win a raffle with several donated prizes. 

During the day e-waste collection points will be provided at the On Point Community Center and staffed by volunteers from the Plummer Home for Boys. Point residents can also leave out white goods the evening of Friday, May 30, for pick up on Saturday. White goods include washing machines and dryers, stoves, water heaters, microwaves, dishwashers, and refrigerators. White goods must be put out before 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning or they will not be picked up.
