Prince Street Sidewalk Repair Begins In Salem On Monday

SALEM, MA — A project to replace sidewalks on Prince Street and install wheelchair ramps will begin on Monday and last about five to six weeks.

The work between Leavitt Street and Harbor Street includes curb resetting, replacing the asphalt and concrete sidewalks, forming new tree pits and adding the wheelchair ramps.

Necessary demolition will be immediately followed by the installation of a curbing and sidewalk material. The ramps will be installed at intersections and crosswalks. Driveway aprons that have to be removed because of drainage issues will be replaced.

Residents are advised that work may include the use of hydrants, which could cause water discoloration. If that's the case, residents should run cold water until it clears.

Work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drivers in the area should use caution.

Parking will not be allowed on the street during work hours. It will be allowed at night and non-work hours.

Police details will be present to facilitate safety and traffic management.
