Runaway Boat: Salem Police Log

Teens cause trouble at a Taco Bell, a mailbox was stolen, and more from the Salem Police log.

  • Police responded to a report of a person sleeping on a bench on the Essex Street pedestrian mall last Thursday around 8 a.m. Officers moved the person along.
  • Someone walked into the police station last Thursday around 1:30 p.m. to report stolen packages.
  • John Alfred Deveau, 37, of Peabody, was arrested on charges of larceny over $250 last Thursday around 2:30 p.m. after a report of shoplifting on Traders Way.
  • Police took a report of four kids who tried to pull a driveway market out of the ground on Barnes Avenue on Thursday around 9 p.m. The kids ran away before officers got to the scene.
  • Officers responded to a report of a noise complaint on Liberty Hill Avenue last Saturday around 10 p.m. Police found it was a group waiting for a taxi.
  • Police responded to a report of a dispute on Essex Street on Sunday around 6:30 p.m. Officers spoke to one of the people involved in the dispute, who said it was over $20 owed from two years ago. The person said he didn't know the name of the person he was fighting with.
  • Alexis Leigh Berry, 22, of Lynn, Shondell A. Holloway, 18, of Salem, Edith M. Nieves, 25, of Lynn, and Tylynn M. Spraglin, 24, of Salem, were arrested on charges of possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number last Monday around half past midnight after a traffic stop on Boston Street. Spraglin was also arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license.
  • Police responded to a report of a stolen mailbox on Valley Street on Monday around 7 p.m.
  • Heidi A. Herdman, 55, of Salem, was arrested on charges of assault and battery on a person over the age of 60 or disabled last Monday.
  • Eric J. Hussey, 37, of Salem, was arrested on charges of possession of a class B drug, and a warrant last Monday.
  • Stephen Michael Kielbasa, 59, of Vineland, NJ, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon last Sunday around 9:30 p.m. after a report of a fight in the Hawthorne Hotel lobby.
  • Kayla M. Lugo, 23, of Salem, was arrested on charges of drunken driving last Sunday around 1 a.m. after a report of a car accident on Norman Street.
  • Richard J. Matthias, 43, of Salem, was arrested on charges of drugged driving, possession of a class C drug, and possession of a class E drug last Monday around noon after police responded to a report of a suspicious person in a car on Boston Street.
  • Officers advised four teenagers to stay away from Taco Bell after an employee told police they were causing problems at the Highland Avenue restaurant on Tuesday around 4:30 p.m.
  • Jason M. Dailey, 34, of Salem, was arrested on charges of possession of heroin last Tuesday around 6 p.m. after a report of a suspicious person in a car on Essex Street.
  • William Ernest Hartwell, 47, of Salem, was arrested on charges of larceny from a person last Tuesday around 5 p.m. after a report of larceny on Palmer Street.
  • Jacqueline M. Noble, 23, of Salem, and Michael T. Cappiello, 28, of Salem, were arrested on charges of larceny over $250 on Wednesday around 4 p.m. after police responded to a report of shoplifting on Traders Way.
  • Police responded to a report of a boat that had fallen off its trailer on Laurent Road on Wednesday around 7:30 p.m. Officers learned the strap on the trailer broke off at the boat, and the boat rolled off the trailer and stopped in the middle of the street.
  • Ashley Berns, 22, of Beverly, was arrested on charges of shoplifting on Thursday around 11 a.m. after police were called to a Traders Way business.
  • Serena Maria Manos, 19, of Saugus, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest on Wednesday around 6 p.m. after police were called to a report of a dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • Jose A. Torres-Figueroa, 42, of Lynn, was arrested on charges of a marked lanes violation and driving with a suspended license on Thursday around 12:30 a.m. after police were called to Loring Avenue.
