Sail Boston Ships Come To Salem

SALEM, MA – Five of the nearly 40 ships sailing into Boston Harbor for the 2017 Sail Boston festivities will berth in Salem during their visit from June 13 to June 16. All five are yachts of the 45-foot to 65-foot range.

"Salem Harbor and our historic waterfront are such a fitting venue to welcome these ships from Sail Boston," said Mayor Kim Driscoll. "From larger passenger vessels, to tall ships, to recreational crafts, to commercial vessels, our harbor is an active and thriving place. I hope everyone who has the opportunity to do so will come down to Derby Wharf next week to see these ships and welcome their crews to our historic port city. I also want to thank our Harbormaster, Bill McHugh, for his efforts in bringing these vessels here to Salem."

Salem's Harbormaster Department and Destination Salem, the City's destination marketing organization, are working with community partners along the waterfront, including the National Park Service, to prepare for the arrival of the sloop Peter Von Danzig, the schooner Regina-Germania, the ketch Rona II, the sloop Spaniel, and the ketch Vahine.

The vessels will be docked at Central Wharf and Derby Wharf at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site. Some of the vessels may have public tours available during their visit to Salem.
