Salem Expanding Sidewalks On Some Streets
The temporary move, which is aimed at creating space for social distancing, may result in parking restrictions in some areas.

SALEM, MA — Salem officials are planning to temporarily expand sidewalks for pedestrians on some streets in a move aimed at increasing social distancing space.
"One of the safest way to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 is to stay home, but we know Salem residents still need to get out of their homes, whether because they are essential workers, need to go to the pharmacy or grocery store, or for safe recreation," the city said in a news release. "These changes will help allow for safe distances to be maintained during these activities in some of the City's most popular pedestrian areas."
