Salem Holiday Trash, Recycling Updates

Salem has updates on how to dispose of trash and bulk items no longer wanted after Christmas.

SALEM, MA — Salem is working on ways to help residents clean up after the holidays.

Salem residents may purchase "orange overflow" trash bags for excess holiday trash. Each household may purchase five extra bags at $1 each. They can be bought from the Collector's Office on Washington Street and Community Life Center on Bridge Street during business hours.

Salem has canceled its electronic waste event for the winter on Dec. 26. The next scheduled event is March 27.

Excess cardboard and paper recycling can be brought to Greif on Jefferson Avenue at 978-744-4330.

For collection of bulky items, residents can call Waste Management at 800-972-4545 to schedule a pickup 48 hours later.
