Salem 'Miles Over The Moon' Road Race Returns Next Friday Night
The 4-mile event on July 16 is the Salem Running Club's first public in-person race since the onset of the coronavirus health crisis.
SALEM, MA — The return of an evening run could cause some travel delays in Salem next Friday night.
The "Miles Over The Moon" road race is set to start and end at the Bentley School with a 4-mile route that will take it past Dead Horse Beach, around the front of Salem Willows, down through Salem Common, and back to the school.
The race is set to begin at 8 p.m. While there are no road closures scheduled, Salem police said traffic interruptions may occur.

The Wicked Running Club of Salem is organizing the event — which it is touting as its "first post-COVID public, LIVE, in-person running race!"
"Enjoy the twilight of sunset as you take in the sights as well as ocean views," organizers said of the 10th annual event.

All proceeds support the Wicked Running Club Youth Running Fund. This fund supports annual donations to local high school track programs, scholarships, and the family-friendly Wicked Kidz Race.
Runners are asked to wear bright, reflective clothing because of the non-road closures.
The road takes runners east from Bentley School on Memorial Drive, past the beach and the front of Salem Willows, turning right onto Fort Avenue.
Runners then head back to Memorial Drive, with a left on Szetela to Essex Street, a right on Washington and then a left into Salem Common. After a loop through the Common runners will head out onto Pleasant Street.
The route heads to Bridge Street, to Osgood Street, to Collins Cove to East Collins Street, and then onto the bike path.
They will then take a left back on Szetela on their way back to Bentley School.
