Pool Stick Attack, Kidnapping Arrest and a Report of Animal Sacrifices

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Saturday, May 3: 

  • At 4:18 p.m., police responded to a report of a homeless camp site off of HIghland Avenue.
  • At 6:29 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walmart on Highland Avenue. Three juveniles will be summonsed to court on shoplifting charges.
  • At 6:43 p.m., police made an arrest on Lafayette Street. Darryl E. Long, 51, of the streets of Beverly, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 10:57 p.m., police responded to a report of disorderly conduct near the intersection of Washington and New Derby streets.
  • At 11:25 p.m., police responded to a report of kids looking into cars on Lawrence Street.
  • At 11:36 p.m., police responded to a report of an erratic operator on Clark Avenue.

Sunday, May 4: 

  • At 12:05 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint near the intersection of Essex and Herbert streets.
  • At 12:29 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Arthur Street.
  • At 1:22 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Broad Street.
  • At 2:30 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Washington Street. Esquerlina X. Nina, 24, of 57 Harbor St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
  • At 6:35 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Palmer Street. Kiara M. Ravelo, 21, of 15 Palmer St., Salem, was arrested on charges of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, domestic assault and battery, kidnapping and intimidating a witness.
  • At 7:23 a.m., police responded to an assault and battery on Forest Avenue. Nuno A. Hernandez, 30, of 5 West Ave., Salem, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering during the daytime with intent to commit a felony, malicious destruction of property valued above $250, domestic assault, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (pool stick) and domestic assault and battery.
  • At 2:01 p.m., police responded to a complaint about people smoking marijuana at a picnic table on North Street.
  • At 2:21 p.m., police responded to a report of possible animal sacrificing on Willson Street. Two guinea pigs were reportedly found dead nearby.
  • At 3:00 p.m., police responded to a sewer issue on Cedar Road.
  • At 3:30 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Traders Way.
