Salem Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests
The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:Â
Tuesday, June 3:
- At 4:00 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Highland Avenue. Michael R. Griffin, 25, of 6 Kingston St., North Reading, was arrested on two counts of violating the city's knife ordinance and a charge of being knowingly present where heroin is kept. Robert E. Gleaney, 26, of 2 Malden St., Revere, was arrested on a charge of violating the city's knife ordinance and a charge of being knowingly present where heroin is kept. Julio Mercado, 43, of 7 Callahan Lane, Lynn, was arrested on a charge of being knowingly present where heroin is kept. Jonathan V. Stasio, 26, of 148 Pearl St., Chelsea, was arrested on a charge of being knowingly present where heroin is kept.
- At 4:05 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Hanson Street.
- At 4:34 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bridge Street.
- At 4:38 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Congress Street.
- At 4:57 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on High Street.
- At 5:27 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Clifton Avenue.
- At 5:47 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Boston Street.
- At 6:08 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Highland Avenue.
- At 6:15 p.m., police made an arrest near the intersection of Lafayette and Harbor streets. Francisco A. Pimentel, 25, of 36 Palmer St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
- At 6:52 p.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Flint and Chestnut streets.
- At 7:00 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Congress Street.
- At 8:01 p.m., a woman entered the police station to report that her purse was stolen from her unlocked car.
- At 8:46 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Boston Street.
- At 9:07 p.m., police responded to a report of a break-in in progress on Leach Street. Gregory M. Cook, 18, of 9 Treat Road, Marblehead, was arrested on a charge of breaking and entering during the nighttime with intent to commit a felony.
- At 9:11 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Boston Street.
- At 11:42 p.m., police responded to a report of a man trying car doors on Circle Hill Road.Â
Wednesday, June 4:
- At 2:10 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Bridge Street.
- At 9:44 a.m., police responded to a report of a past larceny on Hathorne Street.
- At 10:02 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Swampscott Road.
- At 11:04 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on March Street.
- At 11:22 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Loring Avenue.
- At 12:35 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Boston Street.
- At 1:11 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Pope Street.
- At 1:51 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Forrester Street.
- At 3:39 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Lafayette Street.
Shannon K. Young, 36, of 275 Jefferson Ave., Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
