SALEM, MA — Salem residents who do not want to jockey for a parking spot at Salem Willows this summer are invited to take the Skipper for free on Fridays and Saturdays.

The ride-sharing service is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

The Skipper only operates within Salem and does not run on Sundays.

Residents can set up an account on the Skipper app to book a trip. Those taking the service are reminded that masks are still required on board.

"With the start of phase 1 of the Salem Willows signature park project, some folks may be worried about trying to find parking near the Willows," Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll said. "While there's no net loss in public parking during the project, thanks to the adjacent alternative parking area, this free ride offer on the Salem Skipper provides another way for people to come and enjoy this remarkable public park and all the nearby businesses this summer."
