Swampscott Road Intersection Improvements Up For Discussion

The city needs input to improve the busy intersection at Swampscott Road and First Street.

SALEM, MA – Residents are invited to give input on improvements to the Swampscott Road and First Street intersection at a public meeting on Feb. 28.

The high-traffic intersection was the subject of a study by Salem's traffic engineers, which names some changes to the intersection meant to improve traffic conditions. Part of the design phase is to gather input from neighbors to the intersection, and anyone that passes through the area, according to a statement from Salem.

"The Swampscott Road and First Street intersection handles high volumes of traffic on a daily basis," read the statement from Mayor Kim Driscoll's office. "The hope is that the proposed modifications to this intersection will improve conditions on this roadway."
