Tavern In The Square Closes Salem Location

SALEM, MA -- After months of rumors that it would be closing, Tavern In The Square did not open for brunch Sunday morning. According to Salem Food Digest, the restaurant group that owns the chain has been trying to sell Salem's biggest restaurant space and, if that is unsuccessful, will reopen a new restaurant concept in the same location next year.

Tavern In The Square opened its Salem location in 2009, and the restaurant was seen as cornerstone in the downtown revitalization effort. More recently, however, the restaurant has clashed with the city over its liquor license, which was suspended for seven days earlier this year.
