April Election Set for Seekonk
Three people are running for one selectmen seat. Seven people are running for two seats on the school committee.

The deadline for candidates to get their names on the Seekonk ballot passed Monday afternoon, triggering the official start of the campaign for the April 1 election. Three men will compete for one seat on the board of selectmen and seven men are in the running for two seats on the school committee. There are also two people running for one water board seat.
Francis Cavaco is the incumbent in the selectmen race. He will compete against former Selectman Mike Brady and Paul Buckley, who unsuccessfully ran for selectmen in September and sits on the board of assessors.
Michael DelRosso, whose grandfather was a selectman, had pulled papers for the race in November. Assistant Town Clerk Karen McHugh said he did not return the papers and told her he decided not to run.

There are no incumbents running for school committee. The two seats were previously occupied by Fran Creamer and David Quinn, who resigned late last year because they moved out of Seekonk. The two men appointed in December to fill the seats, David Mullen and David Abbott, are not running in the election.
The school committee candidates are former School Committee member Shane Halajko, former Selectman and Veterans Agent Don Kinniburgh, former Selectman Bob Richardson, TV talk show host Jeffrey Starr Mararian, 2012 Seekonk High graduate Evan Berwick, William Woods and Kyle Rose.
